Arrow Guide: How to Open up the 360

his is a guide on how to open an xbox 360, be it for painting the case, adding new fans/water cooler or fixing a problem.

    What you need.
    Torx 10 Screwdriver
    Razor Blade/Knife
    Bobby pin

    How to do it
Step 1: Remove the Hard Drive, Cables, Disc, Memory Unit, faceplate and anything else you have connected to your 360.

Step 2: You should have this so far, i don't have my warranty sticker on mine,

Step 3: Instead of using the kit shown in the picture, use a thin screwdriver to lift the points off.

Step 4: Next you are going to need to take the bobby pin and start popping where the red circles are so you can pull the grey grates off.

Step 5: Now unclip the four clip on the front of the 360.

Step 6: This bit is the most annoying, this is where i highly recommend using a razor blade and not a knife, i couldn't find a razor blade when i took the photos. Start from the left hand side by the Power cable goes and push in the first 2 and then pull it apart. You should get a gap half way past the fans. Next pop the the following one and keep doing it till its open.

Step 7: You should now have your 360 case in half. 1 with just the plastic and another with the contents of the 360 attached to the case. This is where you need the trox 10 screwdriver. First remove the eject button next to the disc tray, it should easily pull off. Next unscrew the following screws to separate the final plastic case with the guts of the machine.

Step 8: You should now have your 360 completely taken apart, for you to do what you wish to do.

Great guide but doesn't opening up your xbox void the warranty? I have heard of a few people who have had the red rings or the E something error and Microsoft refused to repair it as the xbox had been tampered with.
