Thread: Wii Internet Channel Now Free To Download

When the Wii first came out, you could download a beta version of the Opera based browser, but soon after that Nintendo started charging for the full web browser. For 500 Wii Points you could surf the web on your Wii.

Though, that has changed now, Nintendo now offers the channel free for anyone to download. What about those who already paid the 500 Wii Points for the service? Worry not, as Nintendo also announced that beginning in October, those who did shell out on the channel can download a free NES game off of the Virtual Console library.

Along with the announcement, the Wii Internet Channel also received a flash update, bringing it from Flash 7 to Flash Lite 3.1. This should allow for some better browsing on the Wii.

Great news for most users I guess, but I would be sort of bummed out if I had spent Wii points on this. I wonder how many people did that already?
