Important READ!!The end results of this tutorial are the same that you will get with saioke's tut, however, this is way I believe, is easier/better way to hack/softmod the wii. Also these are all newer versions, since his is a bit out of date.

DISCLAIMER!!: Proceed at you own risk. Softmodding the wii is very safe, however on the off chance that it bricks your wii, please be aware that neither I, or the teams leading these projects can be held liable. Please follow all instructions as perfectly as possible.


I STRONGLY SUGGEST TO READ EVERYTHING! I KNOW IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT BUT DON"T JUST SKIM OVER IT. YOU WILL BE MORE SUCCESSFUL IF YOU FOLLOW THE GUIDE, SLOWLY STEP BY STEP. YOU'LL BE DONE IN NO TIME.

First thing before all is to get informed. Please visit Code: [Only Registered users can see links . Click Here To Register...] I suggest looking over the core aspects so you can familiarize yourself with what your doing.

What the end result will let you do: [SIMPLIFIED] (harder to find online that you may think.)

- Run burned wii games Region Free (PAL or NSTC) on your wii
- Install HomeBrew channel ( read up on all the things you can do with it now)
- Via the HBC run install any Wiiware or Virtual Console Games
- DVD playback
- Via HBC media players, emulators, tools, many more)
- Many more (the more you use hbc the more you will discover about it's uses)

I won't assume. Therefore i will try to make the step by step as simple as i can possible make it. If confused about any step, please ask, and i will reply as quickly as possible.

The requirements:

1. First of all you will need an SD card [recommended size is 2GB] cost = around $5[ Please make sure that it is SD not SDhc or micro or any of the other variations]
2. SD card reader[$5] or a computer with a media bay that has an SD slot.
3. Wii connected to the internet.
4. Versions 3.1 to 3.4 Compatible. I have not tested with 4.0 but you can try.

The First Phase: Getting the Homebrew Channel.

1. Get the SD card. Insert and open it in you computer. If the SD comes with any folders then delete all.
2. Extract wiibomb.rar.
3. Find aad1f_v108.zip and unzip it onto the SD card. Ignore all the other zips for now.
4. Copy boot.elf to the root(not any folder) of the SD card, and rename it to boot.dol.
5. Remove SD card. Turn on the Wii.
6. On the title menu. Press (Wii), then Data Management, Channels, SD. Then insert the SD card. It should either pop up Load boot.dol/elf? or freeze[go to Step 6]
5. If it pops up a dialog, then press yes. Follow onscreen instructions to successfully install the HBC.
* If you encounter any problems from then on, don't try other versions (it won't help).
6. If it freezes before popping up the dialog, follow these diagnostics:

* Did you use the SD menu (4.0) or click Savedata instead of Channels? If so, then you're dumb
* Otherwise, try a different version. Diferent .zip from wiibomb folder. The system menu is somewhat unpredictable; while most people should be able to use aad1f, some might need another version.

Restart Wii. Congratulations! Most of you should now have the HBC, without the need of buying zelda retail. The first step!

Second Phase : Installing IOS

1. Once downloaded. Extract. Copy all files inside the folder into your SD.
Please also RENAME the HACKSPAL or HACKSNTSC file depending on your region to HACKS.INI and place on the ROOT of SD.
2. Safe Remove and insert it once again into your Wii.
3. Start the Home-brew Channel, and load "#1 Wad Manager" you find will find in the list of programs.
4. Select “Load From SD”, and then select “IOS16.wad” and press (+) to install
5. Press the "Home" button when it finishes.
6. Go into Home Brew Channel Once More And Run "#9 Wad Manager IOS16"
10) Select "Load From SD" once more and this time install "cIOSrev7.wad"


Third Phase : Downgrading. We want to reach version 3.2

1. Return to Homebrew Channel and run “IOS Downgrader”, if some things fail, run it once more. This will get you the first version.
Your Wii IOS's are now proper and hackable, Regardless will still need the special 3.2, So lets do the following steps after you make sure you have an internet connection.
2. (This step is optional, it is to create a backup in you sd, incase you ever want to bring back your wii to normal)Run HBC (HomeBrew Channel) Now select SoftMii Nand Browser and Load the app. Once loaded please navigate to the following directory: TITLE/00000001/00000002/ - Now press up on the dpad 3 times and then press A. - Now you need to select your original system menu app file. If you are NTSC , the file is 00000042.APP or if you are PAL, the file is 00000045.APP. Press the + button once you highlight your regions app and it will then be copied to the SD card. Press HOME to ext the app once file written to SD msg appears.
3. Select and load AnyRegionChanger 1.1 M5....it'll mention about Korean Discs, IGNORE.
4. Get into the options (Press A), and IGNORE the top section which has region change stuff and EULA stuff.
5. Look at the mid-bottom options, about installing 3.2 (or 3.3K), and leave it on 3.2E for PAL /3.2U for NTSC. Or just 3.2.
6. Click "GO" and then answer then answer YES when it asks if you are sure.
7. Answer "NO" when it asks about Korean Disc Loading
8. Answer "YES" when it asks you to install SPECIAL STARFALL TYPE-HACKS.
Wait for finish, can take a few minutes. Then press HOME when finished to reboot.


The Last Phase OK We should now have a nice 3.2 system installation. Next, the Preloader.
IF YOUR HAVE PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED PRELOADER YOU WILL NEED TO RUN THE HACKS REMOVER FOUND IN THE HOMEBREWCHANNEL. If you have never tried using a preloader then ignore this.
1. If you previously had Preloader installed run #7 Hack Remover. It will remove your old hack.ini. If not Ignore this step and continue.
2. OK now select Pre Loader from the HomeBrew Channel. Read the warning and press 1 to install.
IF YOUR SYSTEM DOESNT REBOOT INTO PRELOADER, SIMPLY POWER DOWN AND POWER UP ONCE MORE, BUT AS SOON AS YOU POWER UP, PRESS AND HOLD RESET
3. Once one the Preloader. Select “System hacks” Or something to that nature. (might be a bit different looking)
4. Enable all the hacks you would like, (recommended - Skip Updates, Move Disc Channel and all No Copy and RegionFree)
5. Select "save settings" and wait for confirmation message to display “Settings Saved”
6. Press B, back to Preloader main and select Settings
7. Set "auto boot: System" (using the D-Pad Arrows), and save settings with A, then Press B
8. Get back to the system menu. By selecting “Load System Menu”
9. Run HBC
10. Run #5 CIOSCORP Installer. It may freeze briefly.
11. Exit and reboot.

Optional: Launch SoftMii Tweak Toy, select the custom menu u would like *REMEMBER 42.app forNTSC, 45.app for PAL (this is totally optional and will change the look of your wii, these themes are available from SoftMii.org and need to be placed in the SoftMii folder on the SD card.) When the installation is complete press Home to return to the Homebrew Channel then Power Down.

Congratulations! You're done!

Extra notes:
This version of HBC is the latest. It only reads .dol. So you must now convert all your .elf into .dol if you want them to work.
When Burning a game:
Note you must use DVD-R. If using Dvd +R then you must chnage the booktype to DVD -R before burning( google how to if you dont know how to do it)

To burn a game, simply use any Burner and then Burn image. (for .iso)

If a burned game doesn't work: It's most likely your fault. Bad download, some have better quality than others, low quality of discs. Always burn at the slowest speed.
