Default Virtual Console - Saving game on SD Card

I downloaded Super Mario 64 to the Wii memory as I didn't have an SD card at the time. I played a few levels and saved it. I then transferred the saved game to an SD card as I wanted to see if I could have two files, one on the SD card and one on the Wii as my son wanted to play aswell. When I launched the game from the Wii system it started from the beginning so I assumed I had transferred it correctly (though I did think I would have to re-download the game onto the Wii memory and I didn't need to). However I can't seem to see the saved game on the SD card.

Have I done something wrong ? How do I transfer from the Wii system to SD card, and how do I then load the game from the SD card? Is it possible to have two files for the same game?

    Any advice greatfully received.

You need to get to know your menus better. Don 't be afraid of them - click on the set up menu icon in the bottom left of the Wii's main screen and go through them.

There is a screen that shows all the channels and where they are listed, and there is another screen that shows the save files and where they are stored. It's two different pieces of information :D

I don't think you actually transfered the game to the SD card.

To do this, you have to go into the set up menu, then into the bit that lists the channels (not the save data). From there you can select certain channels, whether they are like the Mii Contest Channel, Internet Channel etc, or games, and you can opt to move them to SD card. You can't have one game on the card and one game on the Wii, I don't think.

When you have done it correctly, if you go back to the Wii's main screen and click on the SD card icon, you'll be able to see the channels you have moved there and can load from there. Also the game you moved won;t be on the Wii menu screens any more - only in the SD card screens.

If you can't see it, it's not on the card.

Personally, I think you just moved the save data, which is why when you loaded the game from the Wii memory, it started again - the data wasn't there to be accessed.

The Wii can't read save data directly from an SD card - it has to be on the Wii's memory. This is why I have all my save data on the Wii memory, and all my channels and games on the SD card.
