I was just reading a bit about what actually separates Wii from PS3 and Xbox 360, and stumbled upon some information that might be interesting to all, so I’m sharing:
First of all, the reason that Wii has a lower price as well as less extras on the console compared to the other two big consoles is that Nintendo has made a decision to keep the prices down so that the console can be affordable to all (kudos for that, don’t you think?). However, this means that they have to keep production costs low so they just cant add unnecessary things to the console.
An important reason for this is that Nintendo wants the console to be a family console, so while PS3 in particular wants adult gamers, Nintendo focuses on the whole family as a whole.
Thoughts on this? How do you think this strategy is working for them?
