The Oscars aren't till February, but in the meantime, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has something to keep film fans happy. The company today announced the launch titles for its upcoming Playstation Network Delivery Service. From action thrillers to kids shows, there will reportedly be a little bit of everything on offer when the service arrives later this month. Some of the titles to be available on launch day in European and UK territories include: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Hannah Montana: The Movie, Bruno, Angels & Demons, Casino Royale, Crank 2: High Voltage and The Hills Have Eyes.
The service will allow movie fans to download the latest releases straight to their PlayStation 3 and PSP systems for viewing at home or on the go. The service will launch starting this November in France, Germany, Spain and the UK with other markets to follow in 2010.
Like in America, the PSN has movies available to buy or to rent from many major movie studios. The studios currently lined up to provide content include 20th Century Fox, Disney-ABC-ESPN Television1, Lionsgate2, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM), Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Starz Media2, Universal, and Warner Bros. In additional, a number of local studios will be announced closer to launch. We have not been given any information about pricing, but we expect rates to be in line with what we've seen so far in North America.
