Tutorial: How to play Final Fantasy VIII with no lags or freezes
How to get FF VIII Running with no freezes
The game play is smooth, no freezes at all... now you can draw magic excessively, scan, no problems with limit breaks!!! You need CFW 3.90 to play the game, and 3.71 on some FMV's because they will hang 3.90.... but there's no need to downgrade! Simply install 'Popsloader' in your PSP to run a game with any 'pops' you want
(Pops = Sony Emulator to play PS1 Games in PSP)
You need pops from FW 3.90 and 3.71 (or 3.72).... follow my instructions on how to to install it
Requirements:
1. FF VIII EBOOT Game ID MUST BE:SLPS 02180
Download FF VIII EBOOT (with Game ID SLPS 02180) :
2.MUST be a Multi-Disc EBOOT (At Least 2 discs per EBOOT)
3. Set Disc-load speed to Fast:

1. Download 'Popsloader' for 5.00 CFW or Higher' in the following link: (This has been tested & works on on 5.00 M33-6 & all GEN 5.50 Custom Firmwares)

2. Right Click the folder and Extract Files
3. Open the folder until you find 'seplugins'
Drag the 'seplugins' folder
to the ROOT of you memory stick...
if you already have a seplugins folder just copy the files inside
the folder into your 'seplugins'.
4. Turn off your psp completely... then turn it on while holding the
'R' button to go to the Recovery Menu
Go to 'Plugins' and find 'popsloader.prx' and hit 'X' on it to enable
5. Run Final Fantasy VIII and hold R when the screen before the Playstation Logo compes up
The Popsloader Menu should come up:
6. Select the pops you want to load the game with
For gameplay always use pops 3.90
Some FMv's will crash with this pops, simply use posloader and use pops 3.71 or 3.72 to load the FMV's that hang

This "No freezing" gameplay will only work on a Multi-Disk Eboot with a 'Game ID'
SLPS 02180.....
If you want to save space: the multi-disk eboot doesn't exactly be four disks..
you can make 2 EBOOTS with 2 discs each

If you want to crate your own EBOOT... use First Multi-Disc Popstation 1.4 for best Results.......
and remember to change 'Game ID' to 'SLPS 02180'

Issues: (by waqster)
The game will freeze at certain points, however to bypass this you have to have to set the disc speed to fast, to do this press Home>Other Settings>Disk Speed>Fast...... Unfortunately setting the disc speed to fast will not fix all the issues so all you have to do is switch to 3.71 or(3.72) POPs right before the following FMVs
Always Load the Opening FMV with 3.71 pops
Switch to 3.71 pops before the following FMV's:
1) The Sorceress Parade. (When the people start dancing)(DISC 1)
2) Balamb garden transformation. (DISC 2)
3) When Squall looks through some binoculars to look at Galbadia Garden (DISC 2)
4) When Rinoa slips of the cliff no FMV shows. (DISC 2)
5) When Galbadian Soldiers break through the window in the class ( Second Floor) (DISC 2)
6) Squall freeing rinoa at the memorial. (DISC3)
7) Lunar cry (when Squall looks out of a window) (DISC 3)
8) When the Ragnarok tries to break through the Lunatic Pandora. (DISC 3)
9) When Squall,Ellone and Pete escape in pods the FMV crashes. (DISC 3)
10) Very last FMV when you defeat Ultimecia. (DISC 4)
11) When Adel uses quake game locks up. (Slight chance of this happening if so Re-Rip your discs) DISC 4
