[TUTORIAL] How to Run ChickHEN on Any PSP(works with TA88v3)
This is guide on how to run chickHEN on your PSP including 3000.
Here are what you'll need:
A PSP 1000, 2000, 3000 yes, a 3000 too!
A computer
Patience uh-huh *patience is a virtue*
Here's the guide:
Step 1: If you have 5.03 firmware PSP, then skip this step. If you don't have one, update your psp into the 5.03 fw.
To download the update Google it.
Note that this is the required firmware to run chickHEN.
1a: Make a folder named UPDATE and place it in the PSP GAME folder.
1b: Once you downloaded the update file, extract the EBOOT.PBP file to the UPDATE folder. It will be like this, PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP.
1c: Run the update.
Step 2: Once your PSP's in 5.03 fw, download ChickHEN R2 Google it.
2a: Open chickHEN archive using any unrarring software like wrar.
2b: If you're using a fat PSP, extract the folder "PHAT" and copy the tiff image called "eggsploit" in the PICTURES folder. File structure should be like this, "ms0:/PICTURES/eggsploit".
If you're using a slim PSP, extract the folder named "SLIM" and copy the tiff image called "slim" in the PICTURES folder. File structure should be like this, "ms0:/PICTURES/slim".
Step 3: Now, extract the h.bin file into the root of your memory stick.
3a: Go to your PSP setting and disable UMD Auto-Start and UMD Cache.
3b: Go to your Photos and the tiff image should load up. Now this is where you'll need patience as your PSP might crash and freeze and reset occasionally.
3c: Because it's unstable, keep trying until ChickHEN R2 loads up. If it does, you will see it flashing. Your PSP will reboot. Ta-dah you're PSP's homebrew-enabled!
Hope this help's some and save time for people looking for other tutorial sites.
I used this method on a slim PSP so not sure how the fat goes so just leave a feedback on how the fat PSP's done so I can put add-ons.
You'll be able to play homebrew games and software such as PSPTube and PSPFiler.
Also, take note that it doesn't play ISOs, CSOs or any other UMD game backups (hooray), psx games and it can't load prx modules and plugins.
NOTE: If you shutdown your PSP, it will revert back to 5.03 official firmware and you're going to do the process again; so, it is best to let the PSP on standby mode.
WARNING: Do not flash your PSP when using an unhackable version as it will brick your PSP completely.
