Thread: Making your PSP running CFW w/out Pandora battery

Installing CFW and CFWE for all models of PSP (Without Pandora Battery)
This is a tutorial for installing custom firmware on the model 1000 and older models of 2000, and installing custom firmware enabler for a new 2000 models and all models 3000
If you have downloaded from the Sony site later firmware than 5.02 (5.50 or 5.51) this doesn't work for you, and you are not able to install cfw, cfwe.
Write the following table apply to all psp models?
First you'll do: Use psp, go to Settings, System Settings, System Information, and see what System Software (Firmware) you have.
If you have a 5.03, then leave it that way so for now, and who has lower than 5:03, for example 4.20, 4.21, 5.00 or any that is lower than 5.03, you will have to download update from this page and update your PSP to 5.03:
extract it when you downloaded it to desktop, and if you do not have a program for extracting (which I'm 100% sure you have, otherwise you shouldn't be on this forum) download WinRar from this page:

Click Here To Register...] then extract it.When you extract the file , plug in the PSP to computer via mini USB cable, enter the PSP (for me the letter of PSP is F:/), there you will find the PSP folder, enter it, then go to the GAME folder and in that folder create a new folder UPDATE and you HAVE TO USE CAPITAL LETTERS and have to call it UPDATE. In the UPDATE folder insert EBOOT_503.PBP you just extracted.Then disconnect psp psp cable pick go to the game, memory stick and run the Eboot 503 (update) (before the check to you if the battery is full if not, charge it!). When you start you'll need to accept their rules blah, blah, blah, go to accept and then wait and don't touch anything by the end of installing PSP will restart by itself and then go back to the system information and you will see that you have installed 5.03.
Next step will perhaps be the hardest, so let's get back to the business.

Now you need to download ChickHEN from the Internet in order to install CFW / CFWE.

Go to Download file, save it to desktop and open it with WinRar and paste files and folders on the desktop.

Then connect the PSP with the PC, go to My Computer and PSP.

1. When you open the PSP copy h.bin or you may not see h.bin but only h to PSP (do not open any folder, or nothing but directly).

2. Then in the PSP enter the folder PSP and if you haven't made inside folder PHOTO then right click and select new folder and rename it in all capital letters PHOTO and leave it, then enter the PHOTO folder, and depending on the version of your PSP:

3-1. If you have a Fat PSP-1000, then return to the desktop and copy folder eggsploit from the folder Phat in the folder PHOTO on the psp.

3-2. If you have PSP-2000 or PSP-3000, then go to the desktop and copy the folder Chickhen from the Slim folder Chickhen in PHOTO folder on PSP.

Now that you've done it unplug PSP from a PC, go to Settings, System Settings, Restore Default Settings, when did so go to Theme settings, please ensure that you have a color theme Original Colour by Month, then to completely turn off psp hold button off more than 3 seconds.

Turn PSP on again and now follow the process that will have to be repeated maybe 2 times, maybe 10 times and maybe even 50 times.

1. If you have PSP-1000 then go to the Photo and the Memory Stick, and if you have PSP-2000 or 3000, then go to the Photo, Memory Stick, Chickhen and then go completely to last picture and DO NOT OPEN IT! but wait until it appears itself.
*If you have done this properly now PSP will be blocked and you cannot do nothing, and for 10 seconds or less it will automatically turn off.
Repeat same process until you activate Chickhen. As I said it can activate from the 2nd time and can be from 50th .. 1st time will freeze 100%.

1-1.When you activate ChickHEN NEVER completely turn off PSP (don't hold the off button longer than 2secs) and you can just press button off.
Now there is two different processes where the first process is for PSP-1000 and older models of PSP-2000 and the second process is for new models of PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 models.
*PLEASE BE ASSURED THAT YOU ACTIVATED ChickHEN

1st Process:
When you have successfully activated ChickHEN, now you need to put custom firmware on it, first you download Hellcat Recovery Flasher 1.6

then plug in PSP unrar this file you downloaded, copy the folder RECOVERY in PSP/ GAME folder, then download the official 3.71 firmware:

unrar it and change its name in 371.pbp (If you don't see .pbp then only rename it to 371).
Copy that file to PSP/ GAME/ RECOVERY folder. Unplug PSP.
Now run the PSP (ChickHEN is already running), go to Games, Memory Stick, and run Hellcat Recovery Flasher, when it asks you go to agree, then select 371, and then click to install the m33, wait, wait, and when it completes you successfully installed CFW. Now to be able to run ISO / CSO games in the menu when you press select check that your UMD ISO MODEL is on the M33 driver.

2nd Process:
When you have successfully activated ChickHEN download CFWE

When you have downloaded it, unrar it and folder CFWEnabler copy the PSP/GAME folder, then take the PSP (unplug it first and check that your battery is full), go to the Games, Memory Stick, and run CFWEnabler, if ask you something, although I don't think so, I think it just brings out to menu and then you have successfully activated CFWE, Congratulations! To see now that you have CFWE go to Settings, System Settings System Information, if on the end is m33-6 you successfully activated .now to be able to play ISO / CSO game on the menu press select and be sure that your UMD ISO MODEL driver on the M33;). If you want to make some changes in settings, or turn on plugin, etc, go to the Games, Memory Stick, and enter the CFWEnabler.

what about with? i have a pandoras battery and quitre frankly aint gt a clue how to use o.O

Great tutorial. I got a pandora battery from Datel in order to reformat my PSP phat to 5.00 m33, but I still haven't touched my slim. Not sure if I want to do that, as it's the only 'legal' PSP I own right now.

Great tutorial. This tip can save me some of my hard earned cash. I've always mod my psp in repair shop so this is good.
