Thread: My PSP only boots up with the Magic Memory Stick inserted

The last thing i did was install gpSP with a list of maybe 30-40 roms to my memory stick. I then played various roms on the emulator, then shut it down after i was done. A couple of hours later i come back, and turn it on only to have a green battery light and an unlit screen (no sounds or any accessibility... sounds like a brick to me) so i decided to downgrade to 5.00 m33. The pandora did its job, firmware is now 5.00 m33, but if i try to boot it without the magic memory stick, the same thing happens. Black screen, no sounds or accessibility, etc. So i know it's not bricked, but i cant do anything without inserting the magic memory stick first.

with that being said, do i have to downgrade to the official firmware, perhaps, before i re-install custom firmware? (and would it make a difference?)

Try turning on your psp with your charger with no battery
If it works then its your psp's battery and you have to buy a new one
