Hi guys a few months ago i thought I'd buy a faulty ps3 for cheap off line, since i have managed to fix other console's thought I'd have a crack at it. It had the YLOD which i managed to fix, which lasted about 2 days then it encountered another problem, no video, no sound just a green light, i couldn't even get to the recovery menu, i found a few things that could be, but none of the fixes worked. So today i got a bit bored and thought i'd have another go at it. I managed to get the video and sound back by heating the GPU up with a heat gun and pushing down on the chip at the same (heating for about 20 seconds) This managed to get the video back, so if anyone else is having problems this could be one thing to try, i think maybe the connection with the GPU and motherboard wasn't so good.
But now after about a minute it keeps turning itself off (with red flashing light) and i go to re-start it and get no video again. I thought at first i might just need some more thermal paste on the chips so i done that. But it hasn't made a difference, So i was hoping someone might know how to fix that problem ??? and hopefully when i get this problem sorted i should have a working PS3 and i hope someone else might be able to fix there no video problem via the same method.
Let me know if you guys can think of anything about the dam thing turning itself off.
Oh i forgot to say when i do actually get it too boot up (get to menu, and was trying to put my network settings in) it locks up before turning itself off, so I'm think could the ram/memory be a possibly ?
