I’ll wait for his coming at the midnight hour; I’ll pickle his soul and turn it sour. For once his innocent heart I see, that innocent man belongs to me. I am the Devil, the Devil I am.”

That poem is the perfect representation of The Darkness. It’s a favorite of mine as well. Well what is the Darkness all about? You’re Jackie Estacado. Mafia Hitman, adopted son of the Don and the devil incarnate. It happened…well maybe this quote from the game will explain it better. “It all happened on my 21st birthday…That was the First time I died.” So your Uncle Paulie sent you out to whack a foreman of a construction site and collect some protection money. On your way to collect the protection money you see that you’re being followed by cops…Cops that are supposed to be on your Uncle Paulie’s payroll….They are. It just turns out your “loving” uncle, well; he ain’t so loving no more. He’s sent Hitmen and Cops after your *** and you better run. That’s enough about the story; I don’t want to ruin anything. But trust me when I say the story is amazing. Anyway let’s get onto the Gameplay, graphics, sound, Ect.

The Graphics are good. They are no where near as good as Heavenly Sword, or even Jericho. But they do the job. Some textures can be very blurry and the facial animation? Well lets just say, what Facial animation?! Ok, ill be fair. The facial animation is passable, on everyone but Jackie. He never moves his mouth when he speaks. You can just see his lips give a little twitch…that’s it. It breaks away from the atmosphere of the game when everyone but your own character moves their lips when they speak!

The Gameplay? Now that is why im giving this game a 9.47. Imagine the scariest Devil horror move of all time, Mix it with the Godfather. And make your character The Devil. That’s the Gameplay…Freakin’ Awesome. Sorry, but there is no other way to describe the feeling this game gives you. Near the end you feel like a goddamn God! Your impaling people with your tentacle, Eating peoples faces, Devouring their hearts, Blasting them away with a shotgun, Watching your minions rip someone apart and creating a vortex to suck people in and decompose them. All of this at once. But mind what I said. Near the End, you do all this. To start out with you can only call on the lowest of the low Darklings to help you and you can only eat people’s faces and hearts. You don’t gain your powers quickly either. You get your main Darkness Weapon (The Tentacle) halfway through the game! Your main "base" in this game is the subway stations. Here you can watch old movies and walk around the city. Oh sorry, i forgot to mention that. turn on any TV and youll notice an old movie playing...To Kill A Mockingbird, The Man With The Golden Arm, hundreds of old movies...But wait, these arnt clips. they are the whole Movie! The WHOLE Movie! You can just sit there and watch until your hearts content.

On to the sound, Tally Ho! Well the music is amazing. It fits very, very well in the moment. For example, when you become the Darkness and rain down hell on everyone around you, a rousing Operatic Score will play. But when you go into a gun fight, pounding rock music will play. It all fits very, very well with the Gameplay. The Voice acting is also top notch. Star Breeze Studios have gotten a lot of actors to play parts in the Darkness. None of them are world famous though. Most of them star in TV shows or other Video Games. The only Famous person in the game is the actor who plays Eddie Shrote.

Now you may be thinking “Hmm, Star Breeze Studios? Havnt I heard that name before?” Well my friends yes you have. They made the damn well near Perfect Chronicles of Rid**** game for the PC and XboX. But if you missed out on that superb title, fear not, as they are re-making it for the 360 and Ps3! I Guess what im trying to say about The Darkness, is that its an amazing blend of RPG, Free Roam, FPS and Horror. And it’s a must to any PS3 or even 360 owner
