Notes
Well now, DW6. What an overlooked gem this is. Now most of you may disagree with my choice of games, but this one takes the ticketAlmost every reviewer in the world hates the Dynasty Warriors games, and almost every reviewer in the world lied about it too! Ill just comment on a few negatives given by most reviewers:
”Its too Damn Easy! You can kill anyone in a second!”
Well…duh? This is a game about HEROES, and check the books guys, all this really did happen and these guys were like freakin MONSTERS on the battlefield! They killed thousands of men and they still survived. And not everyone is easy to kill, most of the officers are really hard to defeat and require you to mix up your attacks.
“This game is the same as all the others in the series!”
What? Have you guys not even played this game? Everyone in DW6 has new weapons, costumes, attacks, stages and voice sets. They even added purdy graphics! What more do you guys want?! And the fact the Gameplay is basically the same is…well you have a winning formula, so why change it? You can warp it and morph it, but don’t change it!
“The Framerate is horrible!”
Again, did you guys even play this game?! Ive only ever had 1 hitch in the framerate and that was when there were hundreds of people on screen! Most of the time the game runs at a solid 60fps! I honestly don’t think you guys have played this game at all.
“Its so short!”
…What?...No I really mean it…What?! Short?! Okay, now im certain you guys havnt played this game! There are over 70 different characters, 17 of which have a story mode with Full Voice Acting and beautiful Cutscenes! 7 of those characters are unlockable too! And each mission takes around 20mins to do, there are 6 missions per character. That’s 2 hours per character! Although its more like 6 hours Per Character, as some of the levels are really freakily hard! So that’s 6 x 17 which = 102 hours of Pure fun….if you think that’s Short then you need to have your head examined!
Sorry about that guys, but it just annoys me how many reviewers hate this game! Anyway, now that ive got that out of the way ill get onto the real review
The Graphics are really, really good. Ha ha. The Lighting is great, the animations are just beautiful and the physics are really nice. The game also has that…Smooth look to it all. The Cutscenes look especially nice, and they are not pre-rendered, they use the Game engine. Overall it’s a very polished look to this new DW game.
Onto the sound. The Sound is just amazing, the music is a great blend of Classic Chinese and Heavy Metal The Sound effects are meh though. The Voice Overs are good for the most part, though some voice actors do tend over act a bit in the Cutscenes. The Battle cries of each officer repeat a lot too, and by the time you’ve heard “Alone? You amuse me greatly!” for the 8th time in 5 mins, you’ll be ready to tear your hair out!
But…what do you actually do in Dynasty Warriors 6? Well, let me take you back to Ancient China, where the land was in constant turmoil
*Waves arms in a mystical fashion*A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far awa…. Sorry, got carried away there Anyway, a Long time ago 3 Kingdoms battled for control of Southern China. The Kingdom of Wei was ruled by Cao Cao, and strived to rule all other kingdoms. The Kingdom of Wu was ruled by Sun Cei at first, but shortly after passed its rule onto Sun Quan. Wu was a selfish kingdom, they only cared for themselves, but they didn’t want to fight really. The Kingdom of Shu, on the other hand, was a Kingdom ruled by Liu Bei, he only wanted what was best for the people and was willing to sacrifice anything to give it to them.
Dynasty Warriors takes place in this time period, You can control 9 soldiers at first (3 from each kingdom). And when you complete the story mode of all 3 officers from a kingdom, you unlock the ruler of that kingdom and get to play his story. Anyway, ive strayed from the point now havnt I? Anyway, once you pick a soldier to fight, you a treated to a Cut Scene showing before each battle, you then choose your horse and weapon and review your objectives. You then have to fight in the battle. You have certain objectives depending on who you are playing. For example. Playing as Cao Cao’s Bodyguard (Dian Wei) would see you Defending Cao Cao most of the time, whereas playing as Cao Cao’s Strategist (Sima Yi) Would see you taking bases. This is all done in real time on a 3d Battle. You control your unit directly and you cannot control other units. Its quite hard to describe in words, but you basically fight a war, lol
