SEGA Europe Ltd and SEGA of America, Inc. today announced that, for the first time ever, the original games from legendary gaming icon, Sonic the Hedgehog™ will be coming to the Nintendo DS™ system. Available in early 2010, Sonic Classic Collection™ gathers together the first four Sonic The Hedgehog adventures - Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles - introducing some of the most influential Sonic the Hedgehog titles to a whole new generation of DS gamers.
Sonic Classic Collection allows fans old and new to speed through the much loved zones of the four original Genesis adventures, in a bid to collect the Chaos Emeralds and save the world. Sonic Classic Collection will offer a new save feature, a first for Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic The Hedgehog 2, as well as a video recounting the history of Sonic offering gamers an in-depth look at the speedy hedgehog.
“The original Sonic the Hedgehog games were the start of a pop culture phenomenon that extended beyond just the video game world,” commented Sean Ratcliffe, Vice-President of Marketing for SEGA of America. “The Sonic Classic Collection will introduce a whole new generation of gamers to this beloved Hedgehog and take them back to his humble beginnings.”

That's great! A great reason to get Nintendo DS for those who don't have it alreadt, I'd say even (believe me, I know, I'm one of these people!). I'm a huge Sonic fan!!
