Sega has today reset the online leaderboards for Sonic The Hedgehog 4. Confirmed by the studio's blog, the leaderboards for players' record times on each level were completely wiped off due to a high level of hacker activity. To find out what these hackers did, read below.
A seemingly large group of hackers were somehow able to manipulate the leaderboards on the Xbox 360 version by posting up fake time scores -- an example of this is users showing up as completing certain stages in 0'00''00 seconds.
The first episode for Sonic 4 was released as a downloadable title back in October. The game's second episode is expected to receive a release date sometime in the near future.
It's been assumed that Sega is currently looking for a permanent fix to this exploit.
